Petition to Impeach Ilhan Omar Blows Through Goal, Will Be Sent to Pelosi

A petition calling for Congress to impeach Ilhan Omar after her repeated Anti-Semitic tweets and callous 9-11 remarks has blown through its goal of 5,000 signatures.

Here is a sample of the many comments left by petition signers.

According to former Civil Rights Lawyer Michael Troy, impeachment of a member of congress is possible with the concurrence of two thirds.

The Constitution permits the members of the House and Senate to expel members: “Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.” Art. I, Sec. 5.

Trump blasted the embattled Omar Monday and accused Nancy Pelosi of being controlled by her.

Omar also raised a new controversy by refusing to refer to Notre Dame as a Cathedral and instead characterizing the iconic Catholic landmark that was devastated in a fire as simply a place of “art and architecture.”

Despite claims from some on the left that Omar is now being victimized, per Wapo, President Trump said he has no regrets about sharing an incendiary video of Rep. Ilhan Omar and called her “extremely unpatriotic and extremely disrespectful to our country,” as the freshman lawmaker claimed an uptick in threats to her life.

Trump made his comments on Monday to local television station KSTP during a trip to Minnesota for an event focused on taxes. He was asked if he had any regrets about a Friday tweet that included video of Omar (D-Minn.) spliced with images of the twin towers falling on Sept. 11, 2001, in the aftermath of terrorist attacks.

“No, not at all,” Trump said. “Look, she’s been very disrespectful to this country. She’s been very disrespectful, frankly, to Israel. She is somebody that doesn’t really understand, I think life, real life, what it’s all about. It’s unfortunate. She’s got a way about her that’s very, very bad I think for our country. I think she’s extremely unpatriotic and extremely disrespectful to our country.”

The petition to impeach Ilhan Omar, will be sent to Nancy Pelosi later this week.
